The S&P Global Ratings released a new report recently. It expects cable companies to collectively lose 5% more subscribers this year. This is an increase from a prior projection of 3.30%.
MarketWatch highlighted the report’s findings. They said that cable, satellite, and telecom TV providers are expected to lose roughly 5.1% of subscribers in 2020. This is attributed to the ongoing cord-cutting trend.
Credit analyst Naveen Sarma gave his perspective on the report. He believes that the 2020 forecast has more potential for things to go worse than for things to improve.
“We believe there is greater downside risk than upside potential to our 2020 forecast.”
