An IPTV seller in the United Kingdom has been convicted. He’s been given a challenging ultimatum: pay back over £950,000 or face more than six additional years in prison.

Back in 2019, three men were convicted for running an illegal IPTV service. They received a combined sentence of 17 years behind bars.

As reported by TorrentFreak, one of these individuals is now facing an additional consequence. He must pay for his crimes or have his sentence extended.

We’re curious to hear your opinion about the penalties imposed on these IPTV operators.

Steven King was the mastermind behind the operation. He and his associates provided streaming content to subscribers, which was deemed to have “defrauded the English Premier League”.

The operation used various names, including Dreambox, Dreambox TV Limited, and Digital Switchover Limited.

Because of his leading role, King received a substantial prison sentence of seven years and four months.

Paul Rolston and Daniel Malone were also involved and received lengthy sentences. Rolston was sentenced to six years and four months, while Malone received three years and three months.

These are among the most severe penalties we’ve seen for individuals providing illegal streaming content.

However, King’s legal troubles are far from over. He’s facing another hurdle to avoid further imprisonment.

The Premier League stated the court has issued a new order. King is required to repay the profits he gained from his illegal activities. If he fails to do so, he faces an extended prison sentence.

He appeared at Warwick Crown Court today. The court ordered him to forfeit the proceeds of his criminal activities. He must pay back £963,000 within three months. If he doesn’t, his prison sentence will be extended by an additional six years and eight months.

The judge also imposed restrictions on King’s travel. He must surrender his passport within 28 days and is prohibited from traveling abroad until the full amount has been paid.

It remains to be seen what decision King will make. However, this ruling sends a strong message. Those who engage in illegal broadcasting face serious repercussions.
