Many users face challenges when moving apps, often encountering the “Could not Migrate Data to USB Drive” error.
If you’ve encountered this error before, there is a simple solution using Remote ADB Shell, which we explain in our video and screenshot guide below.
We demonstrate the process on a Chromecast with Google TV, but the instructions are applicable to other Android TV/Google TV devices like NVIDIA SHIELD, BuzzTV, MECOOL, and onn. Google TV Box.

Follow the steps below to install the Downloader App by AFTVNews, which you can use to install applications outside of the Google Play Store.
We will also guide you through installing a 3rd party launcher called Sideload Launcher, which helps in locating the Remote ADB Shell App.
For this to work, ensure that Developer Options are enabled. You can find this setting within your device’s Settings as shown in the image below.
IMPORTANT NOTE: As highlighted in the video guide, it is necessary to enable USB Debugging before starting this process.
After completing the steps, we recommend turning off USB Debugging, as some users have reported issues with installed apps disappearing due to this setting.
Step 1 – Install Free Downloader App & Sideload Launcher
1. Access the Google Play Store on your device and search for the Downloader App.
2. Tap on Install.
3. Open the app.
4. Select Allow when prompted.
5. Click OK to continue.
6. Hover over the menu URL bar and click the select button on your remote.
7. Type the Downloader Code for the TROYPOINT Toolbox which is 250931 and click OK.
8. You are now on the TROYPOINT Toolbox home screen.
9. Scroll down to find Sideloader Launcher and click Download.
10. You are then prompted to enable Unknown Apps for Downloader. Click Settings.
11. Turn the toggle to enable Unknown apps for Downloader ON and click Install.
12. Choose Done.
13. Click Delete to remove the installation file.
14. Select Delete again.
Step 2 – Sideload Remote ADB Shell App
1. Return to the TROYPOINT Toolbox, find Remote ADB Shell, and click Download.
2. Click Install.
3. Select Done.
4. Click delete.
5. Click Delete again.
Step 3 – Access Remote ADB Shell
NOTE: The ADB Shell App will not display in your list of installed apps. Therefore, we must use Sideload Launcher to locate the Remote ADB Shell App.
1. Open Sideload Launcher.
2. Select Remote ADB Shell App.
3. Type localhost and click Connect.
4. Leave 5555 as the Port Number and click Connect.
5. Select the toggle to always allow from this computer and click Allow.
6. Type pm list users and click the checkmark button.
7. Type pm remove-user 10 and click the checkmark button.
8. Return to the home screen. Under Settings, go back to Storage. For your USB Drive, select “Migrate data to this storage.”
9. Click on Move now.
10. A message will appear saying “Migrated data to USB drive.”
