Disney Takes Action: Complaint Filed Against Pikashow APK and Others
A report from TorrentFreak reveals that Disney has lodged a formal complaint with Indian authorities. The complaint targets the Pikashow app, TamilRockers, and several other known piracy hubs.
The complaints were filed by Disney Star. It’s a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company.
Disney Star holds a prominent position as the largest television and entertainment network in India. Their extensive network encompasses over 60 live channels and a wide array of on-demand content, reaching an impressive audience of roughly 790 million viewers each month. This includes viewers in India and its surrounding areas.
Reports suggest that Pikashow was among the four piracy operations specifically identified in Disney Star’s complaint to law enforcement.
Disney Star discovered that Pikashow APK and other platforms were illegally distributing a number of its exclusive “Hotstar Specials.”
This included the unauthorized broadcasting of live TV content from channels like Star Plus, Star Gold, Star World, and Star Sports through the Pikashow app.
In addition to targeting Pikashow, Disney Star is also taking aim at the following pirate websites:
- Tamil Rockers (tamilrockermovies.us)
- Tamil Blasters (tamilblasters.lol)
- Tamil MV (1tamilmv.cloud)
These websites are widely recognized Indian streaming platforms, each attracting a substantial monthly viewership.
Reports also indicate that two individuals have been apprehended and officially named in Disney Star’s complaint. These individuals are believed to be residents of Yelahanka, a suburb of Bengaluru, India.
A police officer connected to the case offered the following statement:
“The combined traffic on these platforms is estimated at a staggering 62 million. Their primary focus is providing leaked Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam content. Recently, they have expanded their offerings to include content in other languages, such as Hindi. The initial report has been filed by Disney Star. We are actively looking into this matter.”
