Android TV/Google TV users, get ready for the latest Android TV 14 OS release, recently announced at Google’s I/O Conference. This new OS promises exciting updates and features for users.
Previously, Android TV boxes were running on version 12, but Google decided to move ahead with Android TV 14 instead of continuing development on version 13. This decision was detailed at the official developer page for Android TV 13.
Android TV 14 will merge the enhancements from version 13, previously only available to developers, with its own new features, all set to be compatible with consumer devices. More information can be found on the Developer Page for Android TV 14.
At the Google I/O Conference, it was revealed that Android TV 14 will introduce new Energy Mode options for energy-saving purposes, offering three different modes. This is a significant improvement.
Enhancements in accessibility, such as color correction, text options, and enhanced navigation shortcuts via remote control, will also be part of the update. Additionally, Picture-in-Picture (PIP) mode will be available on select Android 14 TV models for enhanced user experience.
