If you have used Kodi for any period of time, you have likely come across the Kodi log error message which typically displays:

If you have seen this message in the past, you probably wondered just where to find the log file in Kodi. We provide two methods for doing so. These work on any device you prefer. This error can occur when using popular Kodi Addons and even Kodi Builds which many prefer for a streamlined experience.
Many Kodi users are interested in viewing the log file to see important messages, updates, announcements from developers, and more.
We will show you how to view your Kodi Log File as well as Upload for those interested in doing so. Many upload their log files to forums and other websites where members can assist with errors they have encountered when using the platform.
In this guide, we are using an Amazon Firestick device, which is the most popular Kodi device because of its affordability and “jailbreaking” capabilities. These allow us to sideload apps, including Kodi and more.
These steps will also work for other Kodi devices, including Android TV/Google TV Boxes such as onn Google TV Box, NVIDIA SHIELD, Chromecast with Google TV, BuzzTV, Formuler, and more.
How To Check Kodi Log File With Kodi Addon
Luckily for us, there is a nice addon called Log Viewer for Kodi that we can install. This will allow us to check the Kodi log file quickly.
This method is especially useful for those of us who use streaming boxes and may find it difficult to get to the actual log file itself.
In this guide, we are using a Fire TV Stick 4K Max, but these steps will also work for any device you have Kodi installed on.
Step 1 – Install Log Viewer Addon
1. From the main menu of Kodi, select the Settings icon.
2. Choose Add-ons.
3. Click Install from repository.
Continued…If you wish to view your Kodi log file, you can easily do so with the Log Viewer addon. From the home screen of Kodi, scroll down under your addons list and select Log Viewer for Kodi. Click view log. You are now presented with the log file for your kodi application.
Those interested in checking the Kodi Log file manually on their preferred device can do so by accessing a specific location. The Kodi log file is a simple text document that you can open with any type of text editor such as Notepad on Windows. Simply browse to the location of where the log file is stored on your respective device and open it.
As noted above, many prefer to upload their log file for others to view and interpret. We can easily do this with the Kodi Logfile Uploader which provides the ability to upload to the Kodi forum for support. Click Settings. Choose Add-ons. Select Install from repository. Choose the Kodi add-on Repository. Select Program add-ons. Choose Kodi Logfile Uploader. Click Install.
8. Once the add-on is installed, you will receive a notification message confirming the installation.
9. To access the Kodi Log File Uploader, navigate back to the home screen. From there, you can choose to either view the log or upload it to the Kodi official forum for further assistance.
