In this tutorial, we’ll walk through how to install and use a TV backlight. It’s all about enhancing your viewing experience.
TV backlights are a fantastic way to enhance the brightness of your television. They also create a fantastic in-home movie theater atmosphere.
TV backlights, sometimes called “bias lighting”, are typically subtle light strips. These are placed behind your TV to reduce eye strain while you’re streaming content. It’s also a fantastic way to elevate your viewing experience. They offer various color schemes and other features.
The primary purpose of this technology is to reduce eye strain. However, many people buy them simply because they look cool.
Adding color and animation to your TV is a fantastic way to elevate your movie and TV show enjoyment. And you can do it without breaking the bank. It not only reduces eye strain but can also dramatically improve the colors on your screen.

How To Install a TV Backlight
Before you start attaching the light strip, give your TV a good cleaning with a standard household cleaner. This will help the adhesive stick better.
Once the TV is dry, you can lay out the light strip. This will help you get a feel for how it fits around your television set.
Depending on the size of your TV, you might be able to cover all four sides with a single strip. For my 55″ TV, I needed to connect two strips together for the top edge.
Once you’re happy with the fit, you can start connecting the corner strip connectors to the light strip. These will help you make clean turns around the edges of your TV.
NOTE: Pay close attention to the arrows on the connectors and the light strip. Make sure they are aligned and facing the same direction when you connect them. I’d also recommend plugging in the light strip after attaching the corner strips. This is a good way to make sure everything is working correctly.
With all the strips connected, you can start peeling off the adhesive backing. Be careful not to damage the adhesive as you peel.
Now, slowly work your way around the TV. Carefully attach the light strip to the back of the set, pressing firmly to ensure a good bond.
Ensure the corner pieces have a bit of slack. This prevents them from getting unhooked accidentally.
Peel the adhesive off the receiver. Attach it to a spot on your television that’s easy to reach.
Connect the USB cord to the receiver. Then, plug it into your TV, and that’s it – you’re all set!
Now you can put your TV back where it belongs. Hang it up or set it back in its spot.
TV Backlight Details & Features
Want to make your living room feel like a movie theater? Adding a backlight to your TV can really help with that.
This backlight we’re talking about has 16 different color options. You also get 4 different color-changing modes. These modes will smoothly cycle through all the colors.
Here’s what those modes are:
- Flash
- Strobe
- Fade
- Smooth
We recommend playing around with the colors and settings. See which ones you enjoy the most. It’s all about finding what suits your taste.
When you use the remote, it might need a clear path to the adapter. This is so the infrared signal can reach it. We’ve found that the remote works from up to 15 feet away. Just make sure the receiver is in a spot where it can get the signal.
