But I’ve personally found these three to be the most effective. Check out the guides below for a step-by-step walkthrough.
How To Transfer Photos from iPhone to Computer
1. Transfer Photos from iPhone to Computer via USB Cord
Want to move photos from your iPhone to your PC? One of the simplest methods is to use the charging/USB cord that came with your iPhone. Just connect the USB cord to both your phone and computer, and the transfer process will begin automatically. Follow these steps for a smooth experience:
1. Make sure your iPhone is unlocked before plugging it in.
2. Connect one end of the USB cord to an available port on your computer.
Plug the other end into the charging port on your iPhone.
3. A message will pop up on your computer: Apple iPhone – Select to choose what happens with this device.
Click on this message
4. Another message will appear, asking what you’d like to do with the device.
Click Import photos and videos
5. Your iPhone will also ask if you want to allow the computer to access your photos and videos.
Click Allow
6. Now you can choose which photos you want to import.
Select your desired pictures and click Import selected
Pro Tip: You can change where your photos are saved before you start the transfer. To send them to a specific folder, click Change how they’re organized in the image above. Then, simply choose the folder for your photos.
Once you’ve chosen a folder, you can access your photos through File Explorer. It’s that easy! Now, let’s explore the second method: using iCloud to transfer photos from your iPhone to your computer.
2. Transfer Photos from iPhone to Computer via iCloud
iCloud is a fantastic tool for seamlessly transferring photos between your Apple devices. But it’s not just for photos! You can also share emails, phone numbers, and other data.
To use iCloud for photo transfers, you’ll need to download the iCloud app on your computer. If you’re using a Windows PC, use the following link to download and install it:
1. Once iCloud is installed (it might take a bit), open it on your computer and log in with your Apple ID.
2. Click Options next to Photos
3. Enable iCloud Photo Library and click Done
4. To begin, open the Settings app on your iPhone. Then, tap on your Apple ID at the top. It’s the one with your name, Apple ID, iCloud, iTunes & App Store listed underneath.
5. From there, simply tap on iCloud.
6. Next, tap on the Photos option.
7. Now, you’ll want to enable iCloud Photo Library. Just toggle the switch to the on position.
8. To upload your pictures, open the Photos app on your iPhone. Select the photos that you want to move to your computer.
9. Tap the upload button. You’ll find it at the bottom of the screen. Then, choose iCloud Photo Sharing from the options.
10. That’s it! You can now easily view these photos on your computer. Just open File Explorer and look under the iCloud Photos folder.
Keep in mind that these steps were performed on an iPhone 6S, so the process might be a little different on other devices. iCloud also lets you transfer content from your computer to your iPhone. Just open iCloud Photos on your PC and select the “Upload photos and videos” option. This will send them to all your connected devices.
3. Transfer Photos from iPhone to Computer via E-Mail
If you frequently use email on your iPhone, transferring photos to your computer is super easy. It’s arguably the most convenient way to move pictures from your phone to your computer, no matter where you are. Just follow these steps to learn how.
1. Start by opening the Photos app on your iPhone. Then, choose the photos that you’d like to transfer.
2. Look for the upload button in the bottom left corner of your screen and tap it.
3. You’ll see a bunch of different options for uploading your photos. Go ahead and choose Mail.
4. This will open a new email message, with your selected image already attached. Enter the email address where you want to send the photo, add a subject if you like, type a message, and hit send!
Once you’ve sent the email, you can access your photos on your computer by logging into your email account. To save them to your computer, simply download the images and put them in a folder of your choice. Easy peasy!
