Amazon’s press release stated that the name change will take effect on April 27th of this year. It also mentioned a few changes that come with the new branding.

Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, had this to say about IMDb TV.

We have seen tremendous growth for our AVOD service  over the past two years. We are dedicated to providing our viewers with premium, free content. We are eager to continue growing our selection of creative and engaging original shows. We’re also excited to make Freevee the best AVOD service out there, with content that audiences will love.

In 2022, the company plans to increase its original programming content by 70%. One of the new shows will be a spinoff of the hit show Bosch.

Amazon will also release additional original films to further grow its ad-supported streaming app.

Amazon’s official press release highlighted some of Freevee’s best features.  Here are some of them:

  • The large library contains a wide array of genres. These include comedy, family, romance, thrillers, and others.
  • It is available for free. No subscriptions are required.
  • It has half the commercials of traditional TV.
  • You can watch it right away on any device you like, such as Firestick and Roku.
