Once again, Italian Police are making headlines for their efforts in taking down an IPTV Reseller. TorrentFreak was the first to report on this. Italy’s Guardia di Finanza has wrapped up an investigation into a reseller of TVSStreamingItalia and IPTVPanamCity.
They’ve accused a 70-year-old Italian man of orchestrating the whole thing. He could be facing charges like counterfeiting, computer fraud, and messing with trademarks, among others.
This isn’t the first time Italian authorities have gone after IPTV Providers and Resellers. Earlier this year, there was Operation Blackout. The Italian Police managed to shut down a huge IPTV Network during this Operation.
It took over 200 specialists from 11 different departments. They say the operation cut off access to something like 80% of Italian IPTV outfits.
In Italy’s latest crackdown on piracy, they’re not just going after providers. They are also targeting IPTV Subscribers who used these services to stream live channels.
Apparently, users of the services mentioned earlier got a notice, a heads-up that subscribing might actually break copyright laws. But, folks didn’t really pay attention to that warning, and now they might be facing charges for “knowingly receiving stolen goods”.
Investigators used payment info like bank transfers and pre-paid credit cards to find the subscribers. They tracked down something like 1800 customers. These folks could be looking at fines or even court appearances.
TROYPOINT suggests paying with Bitcoin for unverified providers. It’s all about your security and staying anonymous. If you want to be totally sure you’re not streaming stuff you’re not supposed to, we recommend checking out a Legal IPTV Service. One option is Vidgo.
Vidgo has over 95 channels. Plus, there’s a special deal going on right now. It’s only $10 for the first month, and then it’s $50/month after that.
