This article outlines the updates and changes in Kodi 18.5 Leia. It also provides download links for the latest version and instructions on how to update.
Important – TROYPOINT has not tested Kodi 18.5 with any add-ons or builds, so please be aware. Some of them may not function correctly with this new release.
Kodi 18.5 Fixes and Updates
The Kodi 18.5 release only includes bug fixes. There are no new features.
Most users won’t notice any major performance improvements, as these are minor fixes. You should update if you encounter any problems listed below.
If Kodi is running smoothly for you under the current version, we recommend that you do not update.

Interface/Look-and-Feel
- Estuary and GUI info fixes, including scrollbar behavior and icon names. There are also label changes
- Dual support has been added for Artist Slideshow 2.x and 3.x.
- A fix has been implemented to always allow the ‘Black’ screen saver.
- The incorrect sort order list for the music playlists node has been fixed.
Playback/Display
- External subtitle playback has been fixed.
- Support for archives over UPnP has been fixed.
- Fixes have been implemented for “queue item” and “play next” for STRM files with Plugin URL.
- The “hide watched” status for videos has been fixed.
- Fixes have been made to resume handling when you mark a file as unwatched.
PVR
- Fixes have been implemented to EPG database storage and start/stop of PVR service.
- The handling of open modal dialogs has been fixed.
- Fixes for commercial skip (EDL) processing have been implemented.
Other/General Fixes
- There are multiple Android changes around windowing, secure decoder, and SDK versions.
- Multiple iOS changes, including support for iPhone 11 and 7th generation iPad. Plus, fixes for touch input, overlapping drawing surfaces, sandbox checks, and notch support.
- MacOS fixes around windowing, where only a part of the screen was rendered correctly.
- Log files have been improved around verbosity and security.
- Shoutcast has been improved.
- Various fixes and improvements to add-on settings and package build documentation. Improvements also to the build system, advancedsettings.xml, skin/profile changes, and many other subsystems.
