Kodi 18.6 has been officially released. It is now the stable version of this software.

This article will highlight the updates and changes in Kodi 18.6 Leia.  It also includes download links for the latest version and instructions on how to update your software.

Important – TROYPOINT has not tested Kodi 18.6 with any add-ons or builds yet. Some may not function properly with this new release.

Kodi 18.6 Fixes and Updates

The Kodi 18.6 release does not include any new features. It focuses solely on bug fixes.

The Kodi team is incorporating bug fixes from the upcoming 19 release into 18.6.  Currently, Kodi 19 is in beta testing with no confirmed release date.

Should you update? Most users aren’t going to see many improvements. If you’ve experienced issues listed below, then updating may be beneficial for you.

If Kodi is running smoothly on its current version, we recommend that you do not update.

  • Fixes surrounding visualizations
  • Fixes surrounding pause/resume
  • Fixes surrounding TrueHD crashes
  • Workaround firmware bug (AMLogic v23). Note that there are many other Android audio fixes that can’t be merged into 18.x “Leia” due to old AMLogic workarounds.
  • Fix for correctly resuming audio-only MPEG-TS streams
  • Correct headphone enumeration (Android)

  • Fixes for launching disc images and .zip files
  • Fixes for black screen for RGB emulators (Rpi)

  • Fix for artist slideshow (Estuary)
  • Fix media view from addon given content

Playback/Display

  • Fixed race condition for OnPlaybackStarted
  • Fixes for MIME type (Android)
  • Support for Dolby Vision streams through addons
  • Fixes for maximum width and height/vertical-shift (Android)
  • Fix for scanning in sub-directories
  • Fix size of EAGL layer on external screen (iOS)
  • Fix for glTexImage3D (Linux)
