Kodi 19.2 has been officially released. It is now the “stable” version of this software. The following article highlights the latest features, updates, and changes in Kodi 19.2.

Typically, we suggest holding off on these smaller, incremental updates. However, quite a few bug fixes might enhance your Kodi experience. If Kodi is working fine for you currently, we don’t recommend updating.
It’s been a while since the last Kodi release. So, there are naturally several issues that have been addressed.
Important – TROYPOINT has not yet tested Kodi 19.2 with popular add-ons and builds. Note that there’s a new addon system for Kodi 19. This new system also impacts 19.2.
Some addons are not yet compatible with Kodi 19, and you will find below an updated list of addons and builds that are currently functional. These should work seamlessly with Kodi 19.2 as well.

Kodi 19.2 New Features, Fixes, and Updates
PVR
- Fixed: crash when accessing an invalid PVR channel from favorites
- Fixed: crash on startup that occurred when searching for channel icons that were missing
- Fixed: crash on startup due to a missing timer type
- Fixed: “Delete permanently” functionality for recordings removed from the trash
- Other, smaller bug fixes have also been implemented
Video Library
- Fixed a bug that caused UniqueID’s to be deleted during library scraping. This deletion led to unpredictable behavior for addons that depend on those ID’s
Games
- Translations have been added for emulators and game controller add-ons
JSON-RPC
- The icon path of EPG tags is now exposed as a ‘thumbnail’ property
- The series number of EPG tags is now exposed as the ‘seasonnum’ property
Network
- Websocket now has the capability to handle partial messages
Add-ons
- Fixed: The logic responsible for displaying official and third-party modules has been corrected
Windows Specifics
- A potential crash that could happen when switching monitors has been addressed. This crash was sometimes triggered by adding or removing hardware
- An issue where audio passthrough might not function correctly on certain systems has been resolved. This usually happened randomly when the display refresh rate match feature was enabled
- Improved: The flip discard swap chain is now utilized on all Windows 10 systems. It’s applied even if the graphics driver doesn’t support the latest DirectX feature levels
- Improved: By default, a 10-bit swap chain is employed on Windows 10 systems. This is applied when an HDR display is identified, It happens even for 8-bit SDR video sources
- Fixed: A potential crash related to WS-Discovery has been fixed. This would occur when non-computer devices, such as IP cameras, were connected to the same network
- Fixed: A potential crash that might happen when HDR was toggled on or off externally from the Windows 10 display settings has been resolved
- Fixed: Issues with no picture or incorrect black levels with certain video drivers have been fixed. This occurred when limited range output was enabled along with hardware acceleration DXVA2 and HDR passthrough
Android Specifics
- An issue where external storage volumes were not visible on devices running older Android versions has been resolved
Xbox Specifics
The exciting news is that Kodi 19.2 “Matrix” is finally available on Xbox. Thank you for your patience as we worked through the issues preventing its release!
- Fixed: Crashes that occurred during playback of 4K HEVC videos, due to insufficient memory, have been resolved
- Fixed: The GUI was previously rendered at 1080p and then upscaled to 4K. Now, it’s rendered natively at 4K
- Fixed: 4K resolution was incorrectly reported as 1920×1080 in the logs
- Fixed: A crash that occurred when the “Switch display refresh rate at Start/Stop” option was enabled at 4K resolution has been addressed
- Fixed: Tone mapping is now used by default when playing HDR videos
- Fixed: Missing display refresh rate information on the Video Debug Info OSD (accessible via Alt+O) has been added
- Fixed: Internet SSL connectivity issues, caused by an unusable path to the built-in CA certs bundle, have been resolved
- Improved: Swap chain performance has been enhanced using DXGI_SWAP_EFFECT_FLIP_DISCARD
- Improved: The system now utilizes 10-bit swap chain surfaces if a TV capable of HDR is detected. This applies even for 8-bit SDR videos
- Improved: HEVC DXVA2 decoder performance has been boosted. This improvement is achieved through the use of 128-byte aligned decoder surfaces
