It seems that Amazon accidentally leaked the new NVIDIA SHIELD TV Pro on Thursday. The leak was swiftly removed after the error was discovered.
Interestingly, Newegg also leaked the new NVIDIA SHIELD Stick that very same day. It appears that both companies prematurely revealed the new devices. That listing was also taken down.
If the rumors are true, it seems we’ll be able to buy the new NVIDIA SHIELD TV Pro as early as October 28th, 2019.
This new model has some significant changes. The processing power, the remote control, and Dolby Vision support have all been updated.
The design is largely the same as the previous generation. You will find 2 USB ports, Ethernet, and an HDMI port.
The new NVIDIA SHIELD TV Pro has some internal upgrades as well. It’s equipped with an updated Tegra X1+ processor and 3GB of RAM. NVIDIA says that this new processor is about 25% faster than the current model.
The internal storage remains the same at 16GB. However, you can always expand it with an external drive through the USB ports.
The look of the remote control has been completely revamped. It now features motion-activated, backlit buttons for things like volume, power, and play/pause. Plus, there’s a really cool feature – a “lost remote locator” to help you track it down. A Netflix button is conveniently placed at the bottom for quick access. Instead of a coin battery, the new remote will be powered by standard batteries.
They’ve finally added Dolby Vision support. It’s worth noting that a software update might have brought this to the previous device, too. It will be interesting to see if older devices will get Dolby Vision support when the NVIDIA SHIELD Pro TV is launched.
The current price appears to be $199. That’s $20 more than the older model.

Will you be getting the NVIDIA SHIELD TV Pro? If you already have an NVIDIA SHIELD, do you think the updates are enough to justify upgrading?
Gamers might really enjoy the boost in performance. But if you only use it for streaming, it might be a bit too much. Also, in my view, the $199 price tag is a bit steep.
