NVIDIA SHIELD users aren’t thrilled with the new Google TV interface. It recently showed up on their devices.
Customers have flooded the official Android TV Home App page with feedback. Hundreds of comments and reviews have been posted.
The biggest gripe? The sheer number of ads that now clutter the interface. These were completely absent before the update.
Seth Lind’s comment below echoes the sentiments of many others:
Seriously couldn’t be more disappointed with this recent update. Adding ads to devices years after offering an ad-free experience is a bold move by Google. I don’t think it’s gone unnoticed. Look, I paid good money for an Nvidia Shield. I chose it because it didn’t have native ads. Now, I’m bombarded with ads, even in my own home theater. Enough is enough, Google. Do you really think your entire operation hinges on this one advertisement? We’ve made our voices heard. It’s time to fix this.
The Android TV Home App is currently drowning in 1-star ratings. It has over 800 (and counting!) negative reviews in the Google Play Store.
Google recently shared that Google TV OS will gradually replace Android OS. The change will affect all third-party Android TV Boxes.
Google TV Interface Will Begin to Appear on Android TV Devices
NVIDIA SHIELD users are among the first to get a taste of Google TV. This comes with the latest update.
This revamped interface offers a variety of features. It shares several similarities with the Google TV experience found on other devices. This includes the Chromecast with Google TV.
The primary complaint from users? They shelled out for a premium streaming device. Now they’re still being inundated with ads.
There are some workarounds, though.
The most effective way to banish ads on any device? Use a launcher. That applies to NVIDIA SHIELD, Firestick, or any other Android TV Box.
Launchers are user-friendly apps that are easy to install. They transform your interface into a personalized, ad-free home screen.
It’s one of the solutions we highlight in our guide on Blocking Ads on Firestick.
