Word on the street is that the folks behind the once-famous Set TV live TV service have rolled out some new IPTV offerings. Apparently, Set TV was a major player in the IPTV world for quite a while.

It boasted tons of live channels, pay-per-view events, and a huge video-on-demand library.

Set TV was arguably one of the most popular IPTV services for several years

We’d love to hear what you make of all this. What are your thoughts on the former Set TV crew launching new services, especially with that $90 million lawsuit from DISH hanging over their heads?

Despite facing a $90 million copyright lawsuit from DISH Network back in 2018, the former Set TV operators have launched new pirate live TV services. It seems they haven’t been deterred by the legal battle.

According to a report by TorrentFreak, Set TV was in hot water for allegedly grabbing DISH Network’s broadcasts illegally. They were then accused of redistributing them at a lower price, undercutting DISH.

The main players involved were said to be Jason LaBossiere, Sean Beaman, Stefan Gollner, and possibly some others behind the scenes. It seems like a whole operation was going on.

Set TV initially agreed to shut down completely and surrender all their equipment. This included set-top boxes with their software on them, making it look like the case was closed. It appeared they were ready to throw in the towel.

However, things took a turn when DISH Network decided to push the court to reopen the case against the Set TV operators. This happened after they had been involved in settlement discussions, hoping to resolve the matter outside of court.

These discussions reportedly involved a confidential settlement, a permanent injunction that would prevent Beaman from continuing these activities, and a final judgment that everyone agreed on. It seemed like a resolution was within reach.

But as the title of this article suggests, things didn’t exactly go smoothly for DISH Network during these settlement talks. It appears the Set TV operators had other plans.

Turns out, DISH claims that LaBossiere, Beaman, and Gollner, the Set TV operators, are actually the masterminds behind several other pirate IPTV services. These include ExpediteTV, Ping TV, UptickTV, and Mundo TV. They seem to have quite the portfolio of unauthorized services.

If we had to take a guess, we’d say there are probably a bunch more pirate IPTV brands and services connected to these guys. They might be running a whole network of them.

DISH eventually stumbled upon these new pirate IPTV services thanks to an unexpected email. This email contained login details for some test purchases, giving them a peek behind the curtain.

This raises a question: are government agencies and copyright protection groups using undercover accounts on these pirate IPTV platforms? Are they trying to learn more about how these operations work and who’s running them?

In the end, DISH argued that the court’s permanent injunction was crystal clear and left no room for interpretation. They claimed it clearly stated that the former Set TV operators couldn’t start new pirate IPTV brands, and they did it anyway.

DISH didn’t hold back – they demanded a daily fine of $1,000 be imposed as a way to force compliance. They also wanted the Set TV operators to cover their legal fees, adding to the financial pressure.
