It seems ACE has been busy. Just recently, we reported that ACE shut down Afdah. Now it seems Pelisplus was their next target.
The domain seized by ACE was Pelisplushd.net. Apparently, this website was operated out of Peru. It was also ranked as the second largest pirate Spanish website.
An ACE report indicated that Pelisplus.net received a significant amount of traffic. Over the past six months, it had over 383 million visits. On average, it received 68 million visits per month.
Pelisplus was quite popular in Mexico. In March 2022, it was the 54th most visited website in the country, even surpassing established platforms. It outranked disneyplus.com, hbomax.com, primevideo.com, along with several others.
ACE didn’t hold back in its description of Pelisplus. It referred to it as “one of the largest illegal providers of on-demand audiovisual content globally.”
Jan van Voorn, Executive Vice President of ACE, made a statement. You can find it in the official press release. He commented on the shutdown:
“This is a significant victory for the ACE team working in Latin America.. We are dedicated to protecting the legitimate digital ecosystem in the region. The successful action against Pelisplushd.net’s operator was a direct result of evidence gathered from previous operations. These operations were conducted in other countries across Latin America. This demonstrates ACE’s ability to solve current cases by leveraging previously gathered intelligence. It also emphasizes the global, strategic approach that guides our efforts worldwide.”
The press release also noted that Pelisplus operators might face further legal action. They could be charged with tax evasion and money laundering.
The authorities are constantly trying to shut down illegal streaming websites. It feels like a never-ending game of whack-a-mole, and it seems like this trend will persist.
Further investigations have uncovered something interesting. We found multiple “mirrors,” or copies, of Pelisplus still in operation.
This isn’t a new tactic. Copyright authorities have previously made public lists of piracy websites and services they are monitoring.

Will Pelisplus Users Face Legal Action?
The future is uncertain for users of the Pelisplus streaming website. This latest targeting raises many questions.
We’ve seen instances where pirate website operators have been compelled to cooperate with authorities. Under investigation, they have handed over sensitive user data. This includes streaming history and identifying IP addresses. There have also been cases where this information is sold to other third parties.
It’s crucial to take precautions when streaming online. We strongly recommend streaming only content that is not protected by copyright. To further enhance your online privacy and security, consider using a VPN.
