PrimeStreams IPTV Operators Face Legal Action

As detailed by TorrentFreak, a lawsuit was filed this month. DISH Network and Sling TV initiated the legal proceedings in a Kentucky court. They accuse PrimeStreams IPTV of copyright infringement through their rebroadcasting activities.

The complaint identifies the alleged operators of PrimeStreams IPTV. They are Daniel Scroggins and Steven Daugherty.

Scroggins and Daugherty are reportedly the co-owners of PrimeStreams. They allegedly used an LLC named “Investments” to handle payments. These payments were related to the purported illegal IPTV operation.

Here’s what the complaint has to say about PrimeStreams IPTV:

“PrimeStreams was advertised as a subscription service for streaming. It claimed to offer over 3,000 channels, along with movies on demand. Pay-per-view events and sports programming were also advertised, all for a low monthly fee.

The Programming retransmitted on the PrimeStreams service was sourced from Plaintiffs’ internet communications. When viewing the Programming on the PrimeStreams service, unique identifiers from Plaintiffs’ internet communications were detected.”

The complaint further alleges that PrimeStreams utilized various domains. It’s claimed they used these domains to sell the allegedly illegal IPTV service.

These domains purportedly included primestreams.tv and primestreamstv.com. Also included were primehosting.one and possibly others.

However, our further investigation revealed something intriguing. There are websites that present themselves as the official PrimeStreams IPTV service.

However, what's interesting is after doing further research on this service we found a few websites claiming to be the official PrimeStreams IPTV service.

The PrimeStreams IPTV operators also allegedly employed “resellers”. They used these resellers to boost subscriptions to their IPTV operation. It seems they were selling under different brand names.

Some of these alleged “reseller” brands include Bing TV and Better Than Cable TV. Firesticksteve (FSS) is another name mentioned.

Operators Allegedly Ignored Warnings

The official court filing outlines a timeline. Around September 24, 2021, the defendants (PrimeStreams operators) received a notification. This notification informed them that their IPTV operation was in violation of federal law. They were instructed to cease and desist.

It seems this warning went unheeded. The operators either rejected or ignored it, seemingly leading to the current lawsuit.

While the exact amount remains undisclosed, we can make an educated guess. DISH Network is likely seeking a significant sum. They are probably pursuing millions of dollars in copyright damages from the PrimeStreams IPTV operators.

Just a few months ago, there was a similar case. DISH Network filed a lawsuit against Set TV. In that case, they asked the court to approve damages exceeding $500 million. This was for a supposedly lesser degree of infringement.
