Yet another unverified IPTV service has been shut down. This time, the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) was successful in shutting it down.
SmoothStreams IPTV offered a ton of live channels. It was a popular live TV service that also offered VOD, PPV, and other content.
We are curious about your thoughts on this matter. What are your thoughts on ACE shutting down SmoothStreams IPTV? Feel free to share your thoughts below.

A source from TorrentFreak has confirmed the shutdown. Both the SmoothStreams IPTV service and website are gone for good.
If you visit the SmoothStreams website (smoothstreams.tv), you’ll be greeted by a message. This message confirms the shut down.
We decided to do some more research into this. We found a Reddit thread and Twitter page that appear to be associated with the SmoothStreams IPTV service.
If you check out the SmoothStreams Reddit thread, you’ll see something interesting. It has over 2.8K members, but all of the posts have been deleted.
Their Twitter page sheds some light on the situation. It mentions technical difficulties users were experiencing in mid-July.

It obvious our host for many channels run into a problem.
Whatever it is it guessing but think no return coming after offline this much so if you want a refund can put a ticket in and you will get refunded if long as we can.— SS TV (@SmoothStreams) July 19, 2022
There’s some speculation about the shutdown. One source thinks SmoothStreams was experiencing technical issues. Another source suggests the IPTV service was facing legal action.
Reports emerged on June 17, 2022, that legal action was being taken. Several media companies in Canada filed statements against two individuals believed to be running SmoothStreams.
These individuals were named in the report. Marshall Macciacchera and Antonia Macciacchera were alleged to be behind SmoothStreams IPTV.
The plaintiffs alleged the individuals owned and operated various SmoothStreams domains. These domains included:
- smoothstreams.tv
- live247.tv
- streamtvnow.tv
- starstreams.tv
The plaintiffs ultimately took legal action. They were granted a court injunction to permanently shut down SmoothStreams.
The injunction was comprehensive. It prevented Marshall and Antonio Macciacchera from operating affiliated websites. It also required them to turn over financial details about their assets to the plaintiffs.
The story continues, mentioning that two locations in Canada were identified for seizure. However, the individuals did not cooperate fully.
“During the search, the plaintiffs’ representatives seized dozens of TV receivers and encoders, plus a number of servers believed to have been used for capturing and redistributing the infringing content available via SmoothStreams. However, when those were disconnected a few dozen streams remained up – and Marshall refused to explain why that was the case.”
The report also reveals that the investigation had been ongoing for a while. The plaintiffs had been looking into SmoothStreams IPTV for four years.
This suggests the pursuit was a significant undertaking. More information may come to light in the future.
This isn’t the first time ACE, MPA, and other authorities targeted IPTV providers. There are other examples of unverified IPTV operations facing similar actions.
- Juice TV and other IPTV Services were shut down by ACE.
- ACE has also shut down Northern IPTV and GloryV Services.
- ACE & MPA have a list of Streaming Sites and IPTV providers they are targeting.
It will be interesting to see what happens next with this situation. And which live TV services might be next on ACE’s radar.
We’d love to get your take on this. What are your thoughts on ACE’s decision to shut down SmoothStreams IPTV?
