Officials in Spain report the shutdown of a substantial pirate IPTV service. This service reportedly boasted over 500,000 subscribers.

A press release from the Spanish Police reveals that four individuals were apprehended. These arrests are in connection with the operation.

The National Spanish Police collaborated with EUROPOL. This joint effort was part of an investigation initiated in 2020.

The IPTV service in question offered a wide array of content. It provided access to over 2,600 live television channels. Additionally, it featured a library of 23,000 VOD titles, including movies and TV shows.

The Spanish Police statement highlighted the following details about the organization. Since 2012, it had been extensively and illegally marketing and distributing audiovisual content. The content was sourced from various subscription-based television platforms through different companies. They were providing customers with various subscription packages. These packages encompassed over 2,600 television channels and an extensive collection of 23,000 movies and series.

Authorities identified over 95 resellers operating in various global locations. These locations included the UK, Malta, Portugal, Cyprus, and Greece.

The service generated substantial profits, estimated at around 3 million euros annually. These illicit gains were laundered through various means.

During a raid, agents discovered 10 administration panels. These panels were linked to 32 servers located across multiple countries.

The servers were subsequently disconnected, causing significant disruption. Resellers and users were left without service, effectively shutting down the operation.

Investigators seized eight different bank accounts and 2800 euros in cash during the operation. They also confiscated two vehicles with a combined value of 180,000 euros.

Authorities made four arrests in the Malaga Municipalities. The arrests took place in Benahavis, Mijas, and Benalmadena.

Similar situations have occurred in the past involving IPTV operators. Several operators have faced imprisonment for their involvement in illegal streaming activities.
