rojadirecta lawsuit

The immensely popular streaming site for sports, Rojadirecta, has been defeated in an Italian court. It lost against the media giant, Mediaset.

This follows actions taken in several other countries. The UK, Denmark, and Uruguay have all directed internet service providers to block access to the site.

We’d love to hear your opinion on Rojadirecta’s loss to Mediaset. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below!

As detailed in a report by TorrentFreak, Rojadirecta has been ordered by the court to pay damages exceeding €500,000 to Mediaset.

This amount represents a relatively small portion of the €29 million that Mediaset had reportedly been pursuing.

Rojadirecta is widely recognized as one of the leading sports streaming sites globally. It’s especially popular in Italy and throughout Europe.

The site has faced legal challenges on multiple occasions. This includes being banned by authorities in Spain.

In a recent development, the prominent media company Mediaset took legal action against Rojadirecta. This lawsuit unfolded in an Italian court.

The lawsuit centered on allegations of copyright infringement. A court in Rome ultimately presided over the case, and a verdict was reached.

Mediaset subsequently issued a press release, which provided a summary of the verdict.

The statement released by Mediaset highlighted the following:

The Court determined that Rojadirecta bears full responsibility. It unlawfully and systematically made all sports rights acquired by Mediaset since 2010 available to the public. Consequently, Rojadirecta was ordered to compensate Mediaset. The amount is € 529,579.50, plus an additional € 24,786.00 to cover interest and legal expenses.

Furthermore, the statement mentioned that Rojadirecta was instructed to compensate Mediaset for copyright infringement related to audiovisual materials that were commercially exploited.

This isn’t an isolated incident of media companies taking aim at streaming sites and apps. We’ve observed similar situations before:

Sky Forced the Removal of CucoTV

VNest IPTV Was Targeted by DISH & Sling TV

It’s reasonable to anticipate that Rojadirecta and other streaming websites will continue to face legal scrutiny. This is likely to be an ongoing trend.
