What is a Dedicated IP Address?

Every device connected to the internet has an IP Address, a unique identifier for the connection itself.

This includes streaming devices, routers, tablets, mobile devices, and everything in between.

When you connect to a VPN Server, you typically share an IP Address with others and alternate these IP Addresses every time you connect.

With a Dedicated IP Address, however, you are given an IP Address that is unique to you while still being protected by your VPN.

Your IP Address stays the same every time you activate it, providing tons of awesome advantages and benefits.

Advantages of Dedicated IP Address

Avoids IP Blocklists

When you use a shared IP Address connected to a VPN Server, you essentially share the same connection.

IP Addresses often get blocklisted for various reasons, which could affect you if you share the same IP Address with someone accessing illicit content.

A Dedicated IP Address allows you to avoid this issue as you are the only person with access to the IP Address.

Reduce CAPTCHAs

Many VPN users experience annoying CAPTCHA messages when browsing or accessing websites.

However, using a Dedicated IP Address can reduce these CAPTCHAs because your unique IP Address is less likely to be flagged as suspicious.

Provides Privacy as You Need It

A dedicated IP Address differs from a shared VPN Server as it is linked to your email address, potentially compromising your privacy.

Fortunately, Surfshark offers an anonymous Dedicated IP option that severs the connection between your IP Address and email address for complete anonymity.

Improved Access to Websites and Services

Accessing various websites and services can be challenging with a shared IP Address.

Many services require a consistent IP Address, something a Dedicated IP Address can provide by ensuring your IP Address remains constant for a reliable connection.

Blazing Fast Speeds and Protocol Support

Surfshark’s high-speed servers remain efficient when connected to a Dedicated IP Address.

Moreover, Dedicated IP works with all available protocols, including WireGuard®, ensuring you benefit from your favorite features without compromise.
