Folks in Brazil might find something interesting happening at the top of their Google Play Store charts. Some apps they’re seeing are a bit out of the ordinary.
As TorrentFreak recently reported, a couple of “unverified” streaming apps are doing surprisingly well. They are actually outranking well-known services like Netflix, HBO Max, and even Disney Plus on the Brazilian version of the Google Play Store.
We’re curious about your take on this. What do you make of these “unverified” apps showing up on Google Play? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
It’s certainly a head-scratcher. These apps offer copyrighted material, something Google supposedly takes a firm stance against.
While Streaming Apps sometimes slip past Google’s filters, hitting the top of the charts is unprecedented.
If you check Brazil’s Google Play Store and look at the top Entertainment Apps, here’s what you’ll find:
Cine Vision V5 and MegaFlix are sitting pretty at number 1 and 2. They’re above big names like Netflix, Pluto TV, and Disney+.
It seems these apps offer a whole library of movies and TV shows. The problem is, they probably don’t have the rights to show them.
In the past, Google Play has taken down apps that didn’t even have any content, which makes this even stranger.

ES File Explorer Removed from Google Play Store
Even YouTube, which Google owns, has been removing videos. The TROYPOINT YouTube Channel had a video taken down recently. It simply showed how to access Pluto TV through IPTV Smarters, which is completely legal.
Cine Vision V5 and MegaFlix are incredibly popular. They boast over 5 million downloads and more than 80,000 reviews. This makes their presence in the Play Store even more baffling.
Many of the reviews even highlight the sheer amount of content available. Take this comment about Cine Vision V5, for instance:
“It’s incredible! [Cine Vision V5] has everything from Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, HBO Max, Paramount+, and Apple TV, all in one place. It’s like subscribing to all those streaming services, but without paying a dime,”
These apps can be found by users in Brazil, but they don’t seem to be the same elsewhere. If you search in the US, for example, you’ll mostly find trailers.
This whole situation is pretty confusing for cord-cutters and streamers. This is especially true for those who prefer sticking to verified apps and trusting established app stores like Google Play and Apple.
