The YouTube app has officially returned to the Amazon App Store. It’s available for installation on Fire TV devices after an absence of a year and a half.
This positive development arose from a compromise between the two companies, ending a prolonged tech feud.
In this agreement, Amazon and Google allowed the YouTube app back into the Amazon App Store. In return, Chromecast was integrated into the Prime Video App.
Prime Video will also be accessible on all Android TV operating systems. This agreement brings excellent news for streaming enthusiasts everywhere.
Previously, Firestick users could only access YouTube through a browser like Silk. This resolution, however, brings back a more user-friendly app experience.

Amazon Bans YouTube from Amazon App Store
As of January 1st, 2018, the official YouTube App was no longer available on Amazon Fire TV devices. That includes the popular Amazon Fire TV Stick 4k.
This situation stemmed from a conflict between Google and Amazon, where Google expressed its discontent. They were unhappy that the Amazon app store didn’t carry their products, leading them to block the Amazon YouTube App.
YouTube is a very popular streaming app, especially on devices like the Amazon Fire TV and FireStick.
Here’s an official statement from Google:
“We’ve been trying to reach agreement with Amazon to give consumers access to each other’s products and services. But Amazon doesn’t carry Google products like Chromecasts and Google Home, doesn’t make Prime Video available for Google Cast users, and last month stopped selling some of Nest’s latest products. Given this lack of reciprocity, we are no longer supporting YouTube on Echo Show and Fire TV. We hope we can reach an agreement to resolve these issues soon.”
