In an exciting development, Amazon and Zoom have teamed up. Now, users can make video calls with the Zoom application directly on their Fire TV Cube devices.
Just last year, Amazon introduced two-way calling for the Fire TV Cube. It worked by connecting through Alexa devices like the Echo.
However, this latest upgrade changes the game. Fire TV Cube owners can now install the Zoom app. They can enjoy video calls simply with their device and an attached webcam.
To get started, users will need to connect a webcam. The webcam should support USB Video Class (UVC) with a minimum resolution of 720p at 30fps.
Attaching the webcam is simple. It connects to your device using a Micro USB to USB adapter.
Amazon has compiled a list of recommended webcams. These webcams are confirmed to work flawlessly with Zoom on the Fire TV Cube. They include:
Perhaps the best part is how easy it is to access the Zoom App. You can do it right from your Alexa Firestick Remote.
Just say, “Alexa, join my Zoom meeting.” You’ll be prompted to enter the meeting ID and passcode, and you’re in!. You can also launch the Zoom App directly for additional features and video call settings.
NOTE: There’s one important thing to remember. The Zoom App on Fire TV Cube is only compatible with the 2nd generation Fire TV Cube. It won’t work with the original model from 2018.
